A Mother Wound is an attachment trauma that is developed in early childhood which causes the the child to create distorted as well as limiting beliefs about themselves. One of the major affects is a lack of emotional connection between mother and her child. This can be due to a number of reasons; the mother had her own unhealed Mother Wound, she suffered from depression or mental illness, she worked long hours and was away for an extended period of time, the affects of living in a patriarchal culture where women are treated as "less than". If left untreated this wound can have a huge impact in all areas of your life. You may experience a lack of confidence, low self-esteem, deep rooted shame in your body, emotional disconnection with yourself and others, difficulty in relationships, perfectionism, unhealthy relationship with food, feeling like a victim, and people pleasing.
